Hogg, Alexander

Alexander Hogg (fl. 1778–1809) was a London-based bookseller and publisher known for producing works with maps by notable cartographers like Thomas Kitchin, Thomas Bowen and Thomas Conder. His publications included geographical and historical volumes, such as A New and Complete Collection of Voyages and Travels (1778) and The New and Universal System of Geography (1782). He used pseudonyms, for example 'The New British Traveller' was published in 1784 under the name of George Augustus Walpoole. Hogg was likely born in 1752, established his own publishing business around 1778, and continued until his death in 1809. His widow operated the business until 1824 under the name "Hogg & Co."
