North, Stanley Kennedy

Stanley Kennedy North (1887–1942) was a British artist, illustrator, and poster designer known for his work during the 1920s and 1930s. He was particularly recognized for his contributions to commercial art and his involvement in creating posters for the London Underground, railways, and other promotional campaigns. He was one of several artists employed by Frank Pick, who was instrumental in commissioning artwork for the London Underground and creating the visual identity of London Transport. His notable decorative cartographic output includes his map for Thomas Cook of world shipping routes, and the London transport connections of the 1924 British Empire Exhibition; his style in the latter map is somewhat reminiscent of Macdonald Gill.
