Sonja Henie, Megan Taylor and Maxi Herber are among the skating champions in these photographs by Foto Blau, published as heliogravure plates in the 1935 French edition of Manfred Curry's Le patinage artistique, issued by Delagrave in Paris. Henie appears in several images, and Hilde Rückert and Harald Nicholson represent pair skating, with other performers named in the period captions. Made for a book on the sport, the photographs show movements and positions as much as personalities, giving a focused view of international figure skating in the mid-1930s.
