From the midnight sun at the North Cape to the pyramids and Bethlehem, these travel illustrations by G. H. Hodges, published in 1890, cover remarkable ground. The pyramids are seen from the eastern bank of the Nile, and the Church of the Nativity also appears, but the Norwegian scenes are the most varied: a midnight gathering at the North Cape, dated to a particular summer visit, Sámi people at Tromsdalen, a waterfall near Trondheim and a road through Romsdal. People and travel routes are as much the subject as the landscape.
