Bermondsey Abbey and the crosses, churches and bridges of Oxfordshire villages appear in prints by the engraver George Hollis (1793–1842), made for readers of the Gentleman’s Magazine and other publications between 1810 and 1818. The London plates show the abbey together with fragments recovered from its site, while the Oxfordshire subjects include St Lawrence’s Church and the cross at North Hinksey, a preaching cross at Garsington and the old bridge at Dorchester-on-Thames, published after the bridge had been demolished.
