Industrial valleys and country houses share the plates in this selection from Jones and Co., the London imprint behind these views of Britain around 1830. They include Welsh landscapes associated with Henry Gastineau, chiefly in Monmouthshire, where the ironworks at Nantyglo and the valley factories stand beside Mathern, St Pierre Pill and the town and bridge at Abergavenny, treating industry as part of the scenery rather than confining the picturesque to ruins and mountains. Views of Belvoir Castle and Ashby carry the series into the English Midlands. Different artists and engravers contributed the plates; Jones and Co. was the publisher, not a draughtsman.
