Parr, engraved for Thomas Astley's New General Collection of Voyages and Travels, published in London in 1746. Nathaniel Parr was a British engraver, and his copperplates accompany accounts of East Asia, many of them derived from material associated with Jean-Baptiste Du Halde's account of China. Riverside settlements, fishing methods and administrative figures appear alongside botanical plates that also include cotton. One composite plate pairs great bells at Beijing and Erfurt in Germany, and another shows a floating fishing community and windmills near Baoying.
