A sessions house, a house of correction and the great estate at Knowsley make up this Liverpool-area group after Charles Claude Pyne, the British painter and draughtsman who lived from 1802 to 1878. The engraved plates after his drawings were issued in 1829 and 1831. Kirkdale supplies the Sessions House and House of Correction, buildings of justice and imprisonment, while Knowsley Hall shows a country seat on a far larger scale.
