Shepherd, Thomas Hosmer

His illustrations played a crucial role in recording the rapid transformation of British cities during the 19th century. His most important contribution was to Metropolitan Improvements, a monumental visual record of Regency London, published in collaboration with James Elmes. Shepherd also illustrated Modern Athens, depicting Edinburgh’s neoclassical transformation, and contributed plates to Curiosities of Great Britain, London Interiors, and Londina Illustrata.
