Read moreHeinrich Berann's bird's-eye panoramas of Italian ski slopes, coasts and lakes make these maps a striking record of Italian tourist publicity in the 1950s and 1960s. Printed by the Genoese firm Sigla or Sigla Effe and issued as folding colour sheets for local tourist bodies at Fano, Belluno, Capri, Mantova and L'Aquila, they include ski maps of Sestriere and Nevegal, the Romagna Riviera, Capri and Lake Garda, and a map for the Rome Olympic Games of 1960. Their imprints distinguish the printer, the commissioning tourist office and Berann as the artist. His Mantova brings lowland city and countryside into a group otherwise dominated by mountains and sea.
