Fingal's Cave on Staffa, the Helligdommen rocks on Bornholm and the gorges of Pancorbo in Spain show the dramatic side of these prints by Frédéric Sorrieu, published about 1885. Sorrieu (1807–1887) was a French draughtsman and lithographic artist, also known for his political imagery, but here his subjects are geographical. The Landes offers a contrasting French landscape, and a view of Istanbul takes in the Golden Horn and Eyüp.
