The making of Canada's western provinces can be followed in these historical maps from The Canadian North-West, reproduced for a documentary record published in 1914. The work, on early development and legislative records, was edited by Professor E. H. Oliver and issued by Government Printing in Ottawa. The maps range from New France and British North America to the district of Assiniboia, Manitoba and the western provinces, with a sheet of territory ceded under Indigenous treaties and maps of 1905 and 1912 showing the later boundaries of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. All are 1914 impressions, though they relate to many earlier dates.
