Tombleson, William

William Tombleson (1795–c.1846) was a British topographical artist, illustrator, and engraver celebrated for his finely detailed and picturesque views, particularly of rivers and historic landscapes. He is best known for Eighty Picturesque Views on the Thames and Medway, and his Views on the Rhine, which capture key landmarks along these major European rivers with architectural precision and romantic flair. His work also appeared in The Sporting Magazine, The Continental Tourist, and various regional illustrated volumes. Many of his publications were issued through his own firm, Tombleson & Co., as well as London publishers like Black & Armstrong and George Virtue.
