Alpine walking maps and studies of how Italy's land is farmed show two sides of these 1960s vintage maps by Touring Club Italiano, the Milan organisation founded as a cycling association in 1894 that became a leading publisher of travel and geography. The Alpine sheets cover the Ortles-Cevedale group, the Cervino and Monte Rosa, Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Dolomites around Val Gardena and Bolzano, while the Gulf of Naples and the Sorrento peninsula take in islands, coast and volcanic ground. The land-utilisation series maps the use of the soil in parts of Piedmont, the Po plain and Liguria.
