The tombs of Westminster Abbey are the main subject of these prints by Anthony Walker, published between 1750 and 1757, largely for the Gentleman's Magazine. Walker (1726–1765) was an English engraver and draughtsman whose work included book and periodical illustration. The monuments shown commemorate George Villiers, John Sheffield, Anne Seymour, Philippa de Mohun and William and Margaret Cavendish, reproduced for Georgian readers far from the Abbey, and an emblematic frontispiece or title-page design appears under the same credit.
