There were several closelt related people named Benjamin Cole: Benjamin Cole 1 (1667-1729), engraver and publisher in Oxford, the father of Benjamin Cole 2 (1695-1766), optical instrument maker in London, who was in turn the father of Benjamin Cole 3 (1725-1813), also an instrument maker in London, all of whom were probably related to Benjamin Cole 4 (c1697-1783), engraver and copperplate printer in London. We do not distinuguish the works of the various Benjamin Coles, all of which are shown here. Benjamin Cole 4 engraved various plans for Maitland's The History and Survey of London, From Its Foundation to the Present Time (1756), also A plan of the intended new road from Padington to Islington for The Gentleman's Magazine (1755)
