James Bruce of Kinnaird (1730-1794) was a Scottish traveller who confirmed the source of the Blue Nile. On his return to London in 1774 his account, published by James Boswell in the London Magazine, was met with incredulity. Offended, he retired and did not publish his own account "Travels to Discover the Source of the Nile" in 1790. The accuracy of his account has since been established
