Geologische Bundesanstalt

Geologische Bundesanstalt (GBA, The Geological Federal Institute) was Austrian government agency with responsibility for geological mapping between 1945 and 2023. Its predecessor organisations including those from the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy were Kaiserlich und Königlich Geologische Reichsanstalt (Imperial and Royal Geological Institute, 1849-1919); Geologische Staatsanstalt (State Geological Institute, 1919-1922); Geologische Bundesanstalt (Federal Geological Survey, 1922-1939), eologische Landesanstalt für Österreich; Zweigstelle Wien der Reichsstelle für Bodenforschung (Geological State Institute for Austria; Vienna branch of the Reich Office for Soil Research 1939-1945)
