Magistrato alle acque

Il Magistrato delle acque per le province Venete e di Mantova (commonly abbreviated to Magistrato alle acque - Water Authority of Venice) was an administrative body responsible for the water basins of north-eastern Italy, originally established in 1501 in the Republic of Venice as a council of magistrates with responsibility for the control and management of the Venice lagoon. Subsequent to Italian Unification, in 1907 its authority was enlarged to include the entire Triveneto (Tre Venezie) area. Its responsibilities included hydrographic and geological mapping.
