The view at the top shows the Whitechapel Society School, "repaired, improved and further endowed" by Benjamin Goodwin, formerly of Bury St Edmunds. The map at the bottom shows part of Whitechapel Road; the map is orientated towards the south. The workhouse is shown onthe lower (ie the north) side of the Whitechapel Road, adjacent to the school. New Road runs perpendicular to the Whitechapel Road in the upper left hand corner of the map (ie running in a southerly direction off the main road).

DATE PRINTED: The date of publication stated on the title page of the volume within which the print was published was 1825. The publication date printed on the sheet itself is 1st January 1819. However, evidence from elsewhere in the volume suggests that this was printed in the 1834 second edition.

Packing

Items smaller than A4 size are usually packed in a stiffened, board-backed envelope. Larger items are rolled and packed in postal tubes. Large items which are too stiff to be rolled in wide-diameter tubes are mailed in all-board envelopes. Returns
