Mount & Page

Mount & Page was a maritime publisher of sea charts from the late 17th century that became well known for its nautical maps. The firm was founded by Richard Mount (1654-1722) after the death of his father-in-law William Fisher (1631-1691), with whom he had been in partnership. He was later joined by Thomas Page (d.1769). The families intermarried and the business flourished under successive generations through the 18th century. The firm is best known for publishing Captain Greenvile Collins'  Great Britain’s Coasting Pilot (from 1693), and the English Pilot (from 1698). The firm acquired or inherited all the chart plates from the earlier editions of the "English Pilot" by John & Jeremiah Seller, John & Samuel Thornton & Charles Price between 1692 and about 1715, bringing all the plates into single ownership for the first time; already owning Collins "Coasting Pilot" plates, the firm now controlled all the English sea atlases. Later descendents of Richard Mount went into politics - David Cameron is a direct descendant. See also Collins, Captain Greenvile.
