[Pelham Francis "Plum" Warner. Batsman. Oxford cricketer] Though he went up to Oxford in 1893, with all the advantages of an excellent record at Rugby, P.F. WARNER was not successful in getting his blue in either that or the following season. That he had shown his real form in the trial matches in either year, those who best knew his cricket refused to believe. His consistent scoring for Oxford so far this summer is a proof that they were correct in their judgment. In any case he has proved himself to be one of the most reliable rungetters in a rungetting side, and with anything like luck ought to be a useful addition to the batting strength of Middlesex. He plays in good style, and with plenty of hit all round the wicket scores freely off most bowlers. He presented Middlesex twice last year on the strength of his exceptionally high scoring for the Second Eleven against the Second Eleven of Kent. Photograph by Hills & Saunders, Oxford (1895). Antique photographic book plate, 35.0 x 22.0cm, 13.75 x 8.75 inches
